Removed the bandage and sword of the Goddess of Justice.

New Delhi. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud has done a big work before retiring. They have replaced the statue of Lady of Justice installed in the Supreme Court. Now a new statue has been installed in the Supreme Court. The blindfold of this statue has been removed, which till now indicated that the law was blind. Also, instead of a sword, a book of the Constitution has been given in his hand. This new statue has been installed in the library of Supreme Court judges.

It is being told that this new statue has been built by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud. Its purpose is to send the message that the law in the country is not blind and it is not a symbol of punishment. The blindfold on the old statue showed that the goddess of justice did not look at any person. Everyone is equal in his eyes. Whereas the sword was a symbol of authority and the power to punish injustice. This has now been changed. However, the scales have been retained in the right hand of the statue, as it symbolizes balance in the society.

This statue is being seen as an attempt to leave behind the legacy of British rule. It is worth noting that just a few days ago, the Government of India has changed the IPC, CrPC and Evidence Act, which were in force since the British rule, and implemented a new law in their place. Making changes to the statue of the Goddess of Justice is also being considered an extension of this. Prominent sources associated with the Chief Justice’s office said that the Chief Justice believes that India should move forward from the British legacy. He believes that law is not blind, it sees everyone equally. That is, the court does not look at money, wealth and other standards of dominance in the society and its job is not just to punish but to do justice.
