New Delhi. Stock market regulatory agency SEBI chief Madhavi Puri Buch did not appear before the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee or PAC on Thursday, October 24. She said she did not attend the PAC meeting due to ‘some urgent reasons’. This meeting, chaired by PAC President and Congress Organization General Secretary KC Venugopal, was scheduled to review the functioning of SEBI. However, BJP had opposed this and had also written a letter to the Speaker regarding this.
However, the meeting was postponed after Butch and other SEBI officials did not appear. Buch was summoned by the PAC amid allegations of conflict of interest leveled against Madhavi Puri Buch by US-based company Hindenburg Research. He was also accused of taking salary from three places including ICIC Bank while he was associated with SEBI. Congress leader KC Venugopal said- At 9.30 in the morning, we received information from the SEBI chief and other members that he was not in a position to travel to Delhi due to personal emergency. In such a situation, we decided to postpone today’s meeting.
