New Delhi. Winters have not yet started in Delhi but the air quality has reached the category of poor to very poor. In many places the air quality index i.e. AQI has reached above three hundred. After the air quality in Delhi and NCR reached very poor category, it was decided to implement the second phase of Graded Response Action Plan i.e. GRAP. A meeting of the Commission was held on Monday regarding pollution in Delhi and NCR, in which the meteorological conditions and air quality index forecasts of Delhi were reviewed and it was decided to implement the second phase of GRAP.
Earlier on Monday, AQI was recorded around 300 in the morning and 310 at four in the evening at many places in Delhi. The weather forecast also said that due to adverse weather, climatic conditions and calm winds in Delhi, the AQI will remain in the very poor category i.e. between 301 to 400 in the coming days.
