New Delhi. Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal has suffered a major setback in the case of defaming Gujarat University. The Supreme Court has rejected Kejriwal’s petition related to this matter. The bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy and Justice SVN Bhatti said on Monday that a petition related to the same case was filed against Sanjay Singh, which was rejected on April 8. The court said- We have to have the same approach regarding this petition also.
It is noteworthy that Arvind Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh had raised questions about Prime Minister Modi’s degree during a press conference in March 2023. These degrees were issued from Gujarat University. Then the Registrar of Gujarat University had filed a defamation case against both the leaders, regarding which the lower court of Ahmedabad had sent summons to Kejriwal and asked him to appear in the court. Kejriwal had reached Gujarat High Court against the summons, where his petition was rejected. After this Kejriwal reached the Supreme Court. Now the Supreme Court refused to stay the action.
Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh had said that the degree is fake that is why Gujarat University is not showing the degree. Gujarat University had filed a case on this and said that Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh have tried to tarnish the image of the university. Both the leaders have raised questions on the reputation of the institute. They know that the Prime Minister’s degree has already been uploaded on the website. Despite this, both the leaders are saying that the university is hiding the truth by not showing the degree, whereas there is nothing like that.
