Lucknow. Amidst the ongoing seat sharing talks with Congress for the by-elections to be held on 10 assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party has announced the names of candidates on six seats. The party chose Wednesday to announce the names of the candidates, a day before the results of the Haryana Assembly elections were declared and all the hopes of the Congress were dashed. Proving all the speculations wrong, BJP won the Haryana elections.
However, Samajwadi Party on Wednesday announced candidates for six seats, in which Tej Pratap Yadav has been made the candidate for Karhal Assembly seat. SP President Akhilesh Yadav was elected MLA from this seat. The seat became vacant after becoming MP. Tej Pratap Yadav is the son-in-law of former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad. Rao Chiranjeevi, a son-in-law of Lalu Prasad, has lost the Haryana Assembly elections.
Samajwadi Party has nominated Naseem Solanki from Sisamau assembly seat, Mustafa Siddiqui from Phulpur, Ajit Prasad from Milkipur, Shobhawati Verma from Katehari and Dr. Jyoti Bind from Manjhwa assembly seat. SP has not declared candidates for four more seats because talks of alliance with Congress are going on. However, Congress was also demanding Phulpur and Majhwan seats. Congress had demanded five seats from SP, but by declaring candidates on six seats, SP has given the message that it does not accept the Congress formula.
