New Delhi. The Supreme Court on Friday expressed displeasure over the controversial statements made by a judge of the Karnataka High Court during a hearing. The court has sought a response in this matter. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud has asked the Registrar General of the Karnataka High Court to submit a report in two weeks on the statements of High Court judge Justice Vedavyaschar Srishanand. The Chief Justice has also sought assistance from Attorney General R Venkataramani and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta in this matter.
Meanwhile, after the video clip of the judge’s statement went viral, the Karnataka High Court has warned against misuse of live streaming of proceedings. Actually, two videos of Justice Srishanand went viral on social media. In one video, he is seen calling a Muslim area of West Bengaluru as Pakistan, while in the second video, he is seen reprimanding a female lawyer and talking about undergarments. A day after the video clip went viral from the YouTube channel, the Karnataka High Court gave a disclaimer half an hour before starting the live streaming of its court proceedings. In this, recording the video without permission has been prohibited.
