New Delhi. During the ongoing elections in Maharashtra, the Supreme Court has strongly reprimanded Ajit Pawar’s party. The Supreme Court held a hearing on Wednesday, November 13, on the ongoing controversy over Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party’s clock election symbol and the use of Sharad Pawar’s photo in the campaign. The court told Ajit Pawar’s party – You have your own identity, contest Maharashtra elections on that basis.
The bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Ujjwal Bhuiyan heard the case. On behalf of Sharad Pawar’s party, senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi showed photos of social media posts and posters and told the bench that NCP Ajit Pawar has published all these things in violation of the court order. Singhvi said that Ajit Pawar group’s candidate Amol Mitkari has circulated videos in which Sharad Pawar is visible.
Singhvi argued that Ajit Pawar’s party is contesting the elections by using the image and reputation of Sharad Pawar. Ajit Pawar group is presenting as if there is still a bond between Sharad Pawar and Ajit, hence vote for Ajit Pawar. This vote will be for the undivided Pawar family. It is noteworthy that there is a direct contest between Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar faction on 36 seats in Maharashtra.
After listening to the arguments, Justice Surya Kant told Ajit Pawar – This may be an old video or not, but Mr. Ajit Pawar, there is a difference of ideology between you two. You are fighting directly against Sharad Pawar. You must stand on your feet. In the last hearing, the Supreme Court had advised Ajit and Sharad Pawar’s party not to waste their time in the court, but go to the elections and woo the voters. The court had asked Ajit’s group to publish a disclaimer in the newspapers within 36 hours that the matter of the clock election symbol was in the court.
