New Delhi. The way has been cleared for famous Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen to stay in India. On Tuesday, the Union Home Ministry extended the Indian residence permit of exiled Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen. After getting the permit, he expressed his gratitude to Home Minister Amit Shah on social media platform X. It is noteworthy that a day earlier he had sought help from the Home Minister on social media platform X.
Taslima Nasreen had written- My Indian residence permit has expired in July and the Home Ministry is not renewing it. Taslima further wrote- India is my second home and I am upset due to the permit not being renewed after July 22. If the government allows me to stay in India, I will be grateful. Bangladesh is currently facing a serious power struggle. It is noteworthy that the situation has become unstable since the removal of the then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from power. The interim government led by Nobel laureate Mohammad Yunus is making efforts to restore minimum order in the country.
However, Taslima Nasreen has been living in India since 2011 and has Swedish citizenship. She has already expressed concern several times over not receiving any information from Indian Government officials regarding the status of her residence permit. Last month, she said she regularly checks the status of her application online, but it still shows ‘updating’, which has never happened before. He also said that he has nothing to do with Bangladesh and its politics.
