Bharatiya Janata Party finally included Mandal Murmu in its party. Till a week ago, no one knew Mandal Murmu in Jharkhand politics. People definitely knew him in a small area of Santhalpargana. His only identity is that he comes from the family of great freedom fighter Siddho Murmu. But this is not an introduction. After all, when you go to Khunti, you will find many people in Ulihatu and surrounding areas, who come directly from the family of Lord Birsa Munda. But that does not make those people politically important. Then it was surprising that BJP presented Mandal Murmu like a trophy.
In fact, Mandal Murmu has become important because he was the proposer in the nomination of Chief Minister Hemant Soren for Barheth assembly seat. BJP first tried to break Mandal Murmu before scrutiny of nomination papers and get Hemant Soren’s nomination canceled by getting him to give an affidavit. But it was not successful. Before that, BJP had also proposed to make Mandal Murmu a candidate against Hemant on Barheth seat but he was not ready. Now BJP has included him in the party and is hoping that he will harm Hemant in the elections. However, there does not seem to be any possibility of this. This only shows the uneasiness of BJP. Actually, there are 18 seats in Santhalpargana, out of which last time JMM alliance won 13 and BJP got only four seats. BJP is trying every trick to increase its number of seats there.
