Mythological story of the birth of Mother Katyayani
There lived a Maharishi in the forest whose name was Kat. They had a son named Katya. Maharishi Katyayan was born in this gotra. But Maharishi did not have any child. To attain the happiness of having a child, he performed penance and being pleased with his penance, Mother Parambara gave him a daughter in the form of Katyayani. Being the daughter of Katyayan, she was named Katyayani. It was the mother who had destroyed the dangerous demon Mahishasura.
