Kolkata. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee finally met the junior doctors who have been on strike and protesting for 38 days against the rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Hospital. Four attempts to meet her failed in the last one week. After that, a team of doctors met Mamata Banerjee at her official residence on Monday evening. The doctors gave up their insistence on live telecast of the meeting proceedings but they took two stenographers with them so that the minutes of the meeting could be written.
Earlier on Monday morning, Mamata Banerjee had called the doctors for a meeting for the fifth time. She had said that this was the last chance for talks. After this, the doctors agreed to the meeting at around five in the evening. She put a condition that both the parties should keep a record of what was discussed in the meeting and its copies should also be shared. Both the parties talking should sign it. Earlier, the Bengal government had called the doctors for a meeting four times, but the talks could not take place due to demands like live broadcast and videography.
