Bharatiya Janata Party’s National President JP Nadda went to Bihar for two days. He is also the country’s Health Minister and it was officially said that he went to Bihar to inaugurate a hospital. But the question is, when elections are to be held in four states and there is a fierce battle over ticket distribution in BJP in two states, why did he decide to spend two days in Bihar? It is not possible that the BJP’s National President sits in Bihar for two days to inaugurate a hospital. His visit is very important and its timing is even more special. The timing is special because just before his visit, the news came that RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav had met Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. After this, a video of Nitish going to Lalu’s house went viral. It was said that talks are going on again between RJD and JDU.
The reality is that Tejashwi Yadav had attended the meeting as a member of the selection committee of the State Information Commissioner and the video that went viral was an old one. But amidst this discussion, Nadda reached Patna and met Nitish Kumar. Both of them were together in a public event as well, where Nitish said that he is not going to make the mistake for the third time. That is, like the first two times, he will not go with RJD for the third time. Nadda also met Nitish at the Chief Minister’s residence and had a long conversation.
Apart from the speculation of RJD and JDU coming together, the timing of Nadda’s visit is also important for other reasons. Keep in mind that the two parties that supported the BJP’s central government for the last 10 years, Biju Janata Dal and YSR Congress, have now parted ways. Both are opposing the central government. Both parties have said that they will oppose the change in the Waqf Board Act. The government will try to get this bill passed in the next session. Similarly, the bill for Uniform Civil Code i.e. UCC is also to come. Nitish’s support will be very important on both of these. Bihar’s other ally Chirag Paswan has also objected to this bill and has started challenging the BJP. Nitish’s support is necessary to keep him in check.
The timing of Nadda’s visit is also important in the sense that the census notification is to be issued in the next few days and BJP has to decide on the issue of counting of castes. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has given the green signal. But BJP knows that after the caste count, the demand for increasing reservation will intensify. Nitish’s role and his support will be very important in this whole matter. It is also being said that there can be early elections in Bihar. BJP has made it clear that the assembly elections should be fought under the leadership of Nitish. That is why it is being said that respecting Nitish’s wish, BJP can be ready for early elections. It is possible that this was also discussed in the meeting between Nadda and Nitish.
