After Diwali, there was a big increase in pollution in Delhi and the air quality index (AQI) remained above 350 at most places in Delhi. But since it is less than last year, the Delhi government is patting itself on the back that it has stopped pollution. Delhi Forest and Environment Minister Gopal Rai is falsely thanking the people of Delhi for exercising restraint in bursting firecrackers. The reality is that people burst firecrackers in Delhi. In many areas, fireworks continued till four in the morning. Not only this, a lot of firecrackers were burst in Delhi on the next day of Diwali i.e. 1st November.
Despite this, the air pollution in Delhi remained less because the temperature in Delhi is not decreasing this time. This year has witnessed the hottest October in more than seven decades. On top of that, the wind kept blowing in Delhi around Diwali. According to the weather department, the wind was blowing at a speed of three to seven kilometers per hour. Due to these two reasons the pollution remained slightly less. Still, Aam Aadmi Party and Delhi Government are taking credit. However, in Aam Aadmi Party ruled Punjab, Amritsar became the second most polluted city this year. Ambala of Haryana stood at number one and Amritsar at second place. After this, Delhi remained at third place. That means two out of three places are ruled by Aam Aadmi Party. Its leaders are busy in election campaign.
