If precautionary measures are not taken despite predictions, it is because of the people who suffer, his politics, There is no tongue in public life and media. No leader loses sleep over his difficulties.
It is fortunate that the news of 10 laborers getting injured in the stampede during a scuffle to board a train at Mumbai’s Bandra Terminus station has come into the media headlines. Otherwise, these days there is a general rush at the station platforms of metropolitan cities to board trains going to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. It cannot be said that this is a new development. Leaving aside festivals, even then common people will be seen struggling to somehow get a seat in general class trains. Festivals create a scene no less terrifying than when a crowd of students gather to take part in an examination. But all these occasions remain out of the headlines.
Isn’t it surprising that after the Bandra incident, crowd control measures have been implemented on Mumbai station platforms? Did the authorities not know in advance what scale of crowd would gather there before Diwali and Chhath? Despite everyone knowing that such measures are not taken or additional arrangements for trains are not made, the reason is that those who suffer have no voice in politics, public life and media. Their difficulties do not cause sleepless nights for any party or politician.
In today’s era, these common people have become just a medium for making reels or videos, through which politicians try to create their popular image. As far as politics is concerned, politicians are confident that sect and caste are such aspects which will help them in the elections by provoking emotions. As a result, general class trains have been reduced to a hellish state. Even if somehow they find a place to step, no one has the confidence that the train will reach its destination safely. In this situation, would it be an exaggeration to say that those who have no other option, now go to board the train with a shroud over their heads!
