Three coaches of goods train derail near Ratlam railway station

Ratlam. A major accident has been averted some distance away from Ratlam Railway Station in Madhya Pradesh. Here three coaches of a tanker goods train derailed. One of these boxes which was filled with inflammable substance has overturned. A large amount of inflammable substance had leaked from this compartment. Due to the accident, the goods train got divided into two parts and the Down Rail Line traffic of Ratlam Delhi came to a standstill. This goods train was going from Baroda towards Bhopal. At around 10 pm on Thursday night, when the goods train was passing through Bhootna Bridge, some distance away from Ratlam station, three coaches derailed, in which one coach overturned. As soon as information about the incident was received, Divisional Railway Manager Rajneesh Kumar and other officers reached the spot along with the accident relief team. During this time, no public was allowed to come near the inflammable substance leaking from the overturned box.

Railway Protection Force personnel issued a warning through loudspeaker not to use beedis, cigarettes or any other inflammable substances in the vicinity. During this period, down line traffic remained disrupted and trains from the up line were moved at a very slow speed. After the accident, under the guidance of the officials of the relief team, work is being done to restore traffic on the railway line by removing the tanker coaches affected by the accident from the railway line. It is noteworthy that, in the last five years, according to the data of 17 zones of Indian Railways, 351 people have died and 970 people have been injured in 200 serious rail accidents. According to Indian Railways, a serious train accident is one which results in serious consequences, such as injury, loss of life, disruption of rail traffic and damage to railway property. Accidents may include derailment, collision, train fire, etc.
