Shimla. The upper three floors of the mosque in Sanjauli, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, which has become a cause of controversy, will be demolished. On Saturday, the Municipal Corporation Commissioner’s court gave orders to demolish the illegal construction of this mosque. It has been said in the order – The mosque committee will demolish the three floors built illegally at its own expense. However, the Masjid Committee of Sanjauli itself had given an application to the Municipal Corporation Commissioner’s Court on September 12, in which it was proposed to demolish the upper three floors.
On the basis of this undertaking given by the Mosque Committee, Corporation Commissioner Bhupendra Atri issued interim orders before the final order. Now the next hearing in this case will be on December 21. The Municipal Commissioner’s Court rejected the application given by the local residents living around Sanjauli Masjid to become a party in this case. There was a debate on this petition for one and a quarter hour.
It is noteworthy that this mosque built before independence in Sanjauli had only two floors. Local people allege that illegal construction started here in the year 2010. In 2010 itself, the Municipal Corporation gave a notice to stop the illegal construction. 35 notices were given to stop illegal construction by the year 2020. By then the mosque had been converted from two storeys to five storeys. The hearing continued in the Corporation Commissioner Court and the construction also continued. After this, the local people took the matter into their own hands and started protesting, due to which immediate action was taken.
