Trouble for those who left Congress in Punjab

The leaders of the Congress Party in Punjab who left the party are in trouble or dilemma today. They don’t understand what to do. This situation is more prevalent among the leaders who left Congress and joined BJP. However, it is not that the leaders joining Aam Aadmi Party are comfortable. Before the Lok Sabha elections, some leaders left Congress and joined AAP and also contested the elections but could not win. Since then he has no interest in the Aam Aadmi Party. Dr Rajkumar Chhabewal, who left Congress and joined AAP, won the elections from Hoshiarpur, but Gurpreet Singh contested the elections from GP Fatehgarh Sahib and lost. Now it is being said that he is looking for a way to return to Congress again.

But there is a bigger problem of those Congress leaders who joined BJP. They do not understand their role. If assembly elections are to be held in the state in 2027, then they have to do their positioning. He has understood that Punjab is not ready for BJP yet. There is a possibility only for Aam Aadmi Party and Congress. It is noteworthy that before the 2022 assembly elections, Congress had removed Captain Amarinder Singh from the post of Chief Minister and made Charanjit Singh Channi the CM. After that the Captain left the party and then the process of his close ones leaving the party started, which continued till the Lok Sabha elections. The Captain and all those who left the party with him either lost in the Assembly or lost in the Lok Sabha elections. After the results of the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi decided to make the defeated Ravneet Singh Bittu a Union Minister and send him to the Rajya Sabha. This has also created panic among the leaders who left Congress and joined BJP.

It was not a surprise when the news came recently that State BJP President Sunil Jakhar had resigned. However, later BJP said that he has not resigned. But Sunil Jakhar himself has not clarified the situation. Keep in mind that he had already joined BJP and is a bigger leader than Bittu, but he got angry when BJP chose to promote Sikh leader Bittu instead of him. In fact, the entire family of Captain and his close friend Sunil Jakhar do not see any hope from BJP. Captain Amarinder Singh is ill and is not capable of active politics. His wife Preneet Kaur had contested the Lok Sabha elections from Patiala seat but stood third. Dharamveer Gandhi, who went from AAP to Congress, won the elections. He hoped that BJP could accommodate him somewhere but it chose Bittu. Similarly, there is no role decided for Captain’s son Raninder Singh in BJP. He has contested elections twice on Congress ticket. So, be it the Captain family or the Jakhar family, everyone is in a dilemma about their position in the BJP and is trying to position themselves before the assembly elections to be held in 2027. Punjab BJP leaders are also not very fond of the leaders from Congress.
