Dev Uthani Ekadashi 2024: The festival of Diwali is over and the wedding season is about to come. On the day of Devuthani Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu will wake up from yoga nidra after 4 months and will govern the creation.
Kartik Shukla Ekadashi i.e. Devuthani Ekadashi will be celebrated on 12th November. All auspicious works will start happening from this day. All marriages and other works will start happening from Devuthani Ekadashi.
Lord Vishnu rests for four months from Devshayani Ekadashi of Ashadh month to Devuthani Ekadashi of Kartik month. During this time, Lord Shiva controls the creation. There is also a tradition of getting Tulsi and Shaligram married on Devuthani Ekadashi.

Beliefs related to Devuthani Ekadashi
1. On this date, the marriage of Tulsi and Shaligram is done. It is also called Dev Prabodhini Ekadashi.
2. This is the date of awakening of Lord Vishnu, hence it is called Devuthani Ekadashi.
3. If you are not able to get the marriage of Tulsi and Shaligram ji done on Devuthani Ekadashi, then on this festival after sunset, light a lamp near Tulsi and offer Odhani i.e. Chunari to Tulsi. Also offer wedding accessories like red bangles, kumkum, bindi, necklace and flowers. Donate all these things to a married woman the next day i.e. on Sunday.
4. Do special worship of Lord Vishnu and Mahalakshmi. Offer sweets along with basil leaves in the puja. Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya mantra should be chanted during worship.
Also keep these things related to Tulsi in mind
1. Basil leaves should never be plucked after sunset.
2. One should avoid plucking basil leaves even on Amavasya, Chaturdashi Tithi, Sunday, Friday and Saptami Tithi. If Tulsi leaves are required during these days, then you can use fallen Tulsi leaves or you can also re-use old Tulsi leaves kept in puja.
3. If there is any use of Tulsi during the prohibited days, then Tulsi leaves should be plucked and kept a day before. Avoid plucking basil leaves without any reason.
