According to a report, bodies of two elderly persons were recovered from the debris in Jakuradhor Karong area of ​​Jiribam. Militants had set fire to some shops in this area on Monday. Curfew was imposed in many areas after the incident of fire being set during an encounter with the police.

Manipur Police, in a press conference on Tuesday, said the 10 people killed in the encounter had arms and ammunition to spread anarchy in the affected area of ​​Jiribam near the Assam border. A senior Manipur Police official said in Imphal – Security forces have started an operation to search for the missing people. Among the missing are three women and three children. He said that if firing is done then Assam Rifles, Border Security Force and Central Reserve Police Force will retaliate.

Kuki-dominated areas of the hilly region were closed since 5 am on Tuesday in protest against the killing of suspected militants in an encounter with security personnel on Monday. It is noteworthy that the suspected militants killed on Monday were wearing police uniform and were equipped with sophisticated weapons. They fired indiscriminately at a police station and a nearby CRPF camp in Jiribam district, police said. Two CRPF soldiers were injured during this encounter.
