Voting begins for the first phase of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar. Voting has started for the first phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections. Enthusiasm is being seen among the voters to vote. Assembly elections are to be held in Jammu and Kashmir in three phases. Security forces deployed at the Pampore Assembly constituency and Koil polling stations in Pulwama district smiled and talked to the voters who came out to exercise their franchise in the morning and helped them. At all other places in Anantnag, Kulgam and Shopian districts, voters have also started coming out to elect their representatives.

Voting is being held for the assembly elections here after a gap of 10 years. Enthusiasm was seen among the voters from the beginning of voting in Banihal constituency of Ramban district, Doda and Kishtwar districts of Jammu division. Most of the voters were men in the morning, while women are expected to come out in the afternoon after finishing their household chores. 23.27 lakh voters will decide the fate of 219 candidates on Wednesday in 24 assembly constituencies of seven districts of Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam and Shopian in the valley and Banihal, Kishtwar and Doda in Jammu division. Authorities have made extensive security arrangements for the first phase of elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
