New Delhi. The country’s well-known social and environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk has once again been taken into custody by Delhi Police. Sonam Wangchuk and her colleagues, who were on hunger strike for seven days, were detained from Ladakh Bhawan in Delhi. Earlier, on reaching Delhi on September 30, he was detained at the Delhi border. However, after taking Sonam Wangchuk into custody, the police took her to Mandir Marg police station. Delhi Police had deployed heavy police force to maintain law and order.

On the other hand, the fasting social workers said that they were not protesting, but were sitting peacefully. A senior police officer said that the protesters have no permission to sit outside Ladakh Bhawan. The officer said- The protesters have applied to protest at Jantar Mantar. His application is being considered. They are not allowed to perform at any other place. We have detained some people, who will be released soon.

It is noteworthy that Sonam Wangchuk along with her supporters marched from Leh to Delhi demanding statehood for Ladakh and including it in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution. He reached Delhi on September 30, where he was detained by the police at the Singhu border of the capital. He was released on the night of October 2. After that he went to Rajghat and paid homage at the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi. Sonam Wangchuk is demanding a meeting with top leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding her demands.
