Is the current unrest in Jammu and Kashmir due to concerns about the assembly elections held in the state or is a new trend emerging from it? There has been a record increase in terrorist attacks in Kashmir for the last five months. The situation has been like this since the Lok Sabha election results. However, these attacks have increased after the assembly elections held in September and October. According to a report, in the last five months i.e. since the end of the Lok Sabha elections, there have been at least 35 attacks in Kashmir. In these attacks, 37 security forces personnel have been martyred and 25 civilians have been killed. Apart from this, more than 50 people have been injured.
There has been an increase in attacks on security forces in Jammu and Kashmir and targeted attacks on non-Kashmiris have also increased. Even during the festival of Diwali, migrant laborers were attacked on Friday, November 1. This was the fifth attack in a fortnight. Earlier, there was an attack on army vehicles in Gulmarg, in which three soldiers were martyred and two civilians were killed. Later all the terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces. Think, on one hand there have been peaceful and almost fair elections. A democratic government has been formed and the status of full statehood is also going to be restored.
On the other hand, terrorist attacks have increased. Now Farooq Abdullah has also started saying that Pakistan is carrying out these attacks. He said that if Pakistan thinks that Kashmir will become its this way then it is not possible. The question is, what will the central government do after Pakistan’s aspect has come to the fore so openly? What will be the effect if the police of the state remains in the hands of Omar Abdullah government? Is there a possibility of any new political, diplomatic or strategic initiative in the state?
