There was a 14-member standing committee of the Statistics Department, whose chairman was the well-known economist Pranab Sen. This committee has been dissolved without giving any reason.
Pranab Sen has said that no member was informed about why the committee is being dissolved. It is being told that the members of the committee had questioned the delay in the census and demanded that the census be conducted as soon as possible. Note that the census, which is conducted every 10 years, was to be conducted in 2021, but it was postponed in 2020 due to the Corona epidemic. Till now, policy decisions for public welfare are being made on the basis of the data of the 2011 census.
