Water Jhulni Ekadashi 2024 : Ekadashi is very important in Hinduism. Ekadashi fast is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Ekadashi falling during Ganesh festival is very important. This Ekadashi is also known as Jaljhoolni, Parivartini Ekadashi and Dol Gyaras.

Worshiping Lord Vishnu and observing a fast on this day brings desired results. This fast holds a lot of importance for married women. Jaljhulani Ekadashi or Parivartini Ekadashi falls on the Shukla Paksha Ekadashi date of the month of Bhadrapada every year. This time Jaljhulani Ekadashi will be celebrated on 14 September on the Shukla Paksha Ekadashi date of the month of Bhadrapada.

Ekadashi fast on 14 September

According to the Panchang, the Shukla Paksha Ekadashi date of the Bhadrapada month will start on Friday, 13 September at 10.30 pm and will end on Saturday, 14 September at 08.41 pm. According to the Udaya date, Ekadashi fast will be observed on September 14, as its effect will last for the whole day. The auspicious time for worship on this day is from 07.38 am to 09.11 am.

Why is it called Parivartini Ekadashi…..

Ekadashi fast is observed for Lord Vishnu. This time, due to Saturday and Ganesh Utsav, there is an auspicious yoga of worshipping Lord Vishnu, Ganesha as well as Lord Shanidev on Ekadashi. In the Vaishnav section of Skanda Purana, in the Ekadashi Mahatmya chapter, all the Ekadashis of the year have been mentioned. On Ekadashi, fast is observed for Lord Vishnu and special worship is done. Right now, it is the time of rest for Lord Vishnu. There is a mythological belief that on Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month, Lord Vishnu changes his side, due to which this date is called Parivartini Ekadashi.

This is a simple method of observing Ekadashi fast

1. Before Ekadashi fast, one should take satvik diet on the evening of Dashami Tithi (September 13).
2. On the day of Ekadashi on September 14, wake up early and offer water to the rising sun
3. After worshiping Lord Ganesha in the home temple, perform the anointment of Vishnu-Lakshmi.
4. Offer sweets along with Tulsi. Light incense and perform Aarti.
5. Chant the mantra Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevay and take a pledge to observe Ekadashi fast
6. People who observe Ekadashi fast should not eat food
7. Next day on Dwadashi, wake up early and worship Vishnu-Lakshmi along with Lord Ganesha

Do worship Shanidev on Ekadashi and Saturday. Anoint Shanidev with mustard oil, offer blue flowers, black sesame seeds, black urad to the Lord. Chant the Shani mantra Om Sham Shanaishcharaya Namah. Donate oil and sesame seeds to the needy people. (Jal Jhulni Ekadashi 2024)
