Where do we stand in relations with China?

What is the real status of relations between India and China? This is a million dollar question that the Government of India should not have any confusion about. It should be told whether what External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said is correct or what Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has said is closer to the truth? The Army Chief has spoken in great detail about the strategic situation between India and China. He has bluntly said that relations between the two countries are not normal. Army Chief General Dwivedi said that relations between the two countries are stable. This means that tension is not increasing or any new disputes have started but the relationship is not normal. He also said that the situation is very sensitive. This means that India has to remain in a constant state of alert.

But a few days ago, the Foreign Minister had said that 75 percent of the dispute between India and China has been resolved. However, when questions were raised on this, he clarified and said that he had said this only in the matter of army withdrawal. So should it be believed that in 75 percent of the cases the army has withdrawn? Has 75 percent of the restoration work completed in April 2020? The reality is far from like this. If such a situation had happened, the Army Chief would not have had to say, ‘We want the situation with China to be like it was before April 2020.’ Be it the matter of possession of land or creation of buffer zone. Until the situation is restored as before, the situation will remain sensitive and we are fully prepared to deal with any situation. The reality is that neither patrolling has started like before nor the old buffer zones have been created. If BJP leader Subramanian Swamy is to be believed, China has changed its geographical position. Now the Indian Army no longer patrols where it did before April 2020 and the buffer zone has also now come under undisputed Indian territory.
