It can be said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the house of Chief Justice of India Dhananjay Yashwant Chandrachud on Wednesday, September 11, as a courtesy or to attend a religious event. But is the matter limited to this only? Did the Prime Minister visit the Chief Justice’s house only because he is a Marathi and Ganesh Utsav is being organised at his house at this time? This is not a matter limited to this only.
If it was just a matter of courtesy or sociality to participate in a religious festival, would the Prime Minister have visited the Chief Justice’s house last year too? After all, DY Chandrachud was the Chief Justice of India during Ganesh Utsav last year too. But the Prime Minister did not visit his house then. This is probably the first case of a Prime Minister visiting the house of a judge or Chief Justice to participate in Ganesh Utsav or any religious festival.
That is why politics is being seen behind this and it is being linked to the Maharashtra assembly elections. It is worth mentioning that the Maharashtra assembly elections are going to be announced next month and elections will be held in the state in November. Maharashtra is very important for the BJP which has been in power for seven and a half years in the last 10 years. Although the election process is going on in Haryana and Jammu Kashmir and elections will be held in Jharkhand along with Maharashtra, but the Maharashtra elections are more important than the combined weight of these three states. Maharashtra has Mumbai, which is the financial capital of the country.
Maharashtra has Nagpur, the headquarters of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Maharashtra is the state where the issue has been raised that the Prime Minister, who is a Gujarati, is taking all the big projects of Maharashtra to his state. That is, the biggest allegation of regional discrimination has been leveled against the Prime Minister there. Maharashtra is the state where Shiv Sena is and after the decision of the Election Commission and the Speaker, now the public has to decide who is the real Shiv Sena. This is also likely to challenge the BJP brand of Hindutva politics.
Therefore, it is believed that BJP will do anything to win Maharashtra. Whether it is to do something before the elections or something after the elections. BJP is ready for everything. However, opposition has started as soon as the news of Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the Chief Justice’s house on Wednesday came out. There is maximum opposition in the judicial fraternity.
Renowned lawyer and social activist Indira Jaising has criticized this, calling it wrong. Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut has said that ‘Will the Chief Justice be able to give us justice now?’ This is also being linked to the Maharashtra elections because the Prime Minister is wearing a cap like a Marathi Manus, while the Chief Justice is not wearing such a cap. His wife is also not wearing Marathi attire. But between the two, Prime Minister Modi is standing like a Marathi Manus. Its direct message is for the people of Maharashtra.
