This special Rs 10 postage stamp, released last week, has an image of mother and child artistically engraved.
It symbolizes UNICEF’s mandate to protect the right of every child to live, nurture and achieve their full potential, especially the most vulnerable.
UNICEF started a concerted effort with the Government of India in 1949 to provide opportunities and ensure a good start in life for every child.
This special postage stamp of Rs.10 has artistically engraved images of mother and child.
There is strong alignment with UNICEF priorities driven by the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and India’s National Social Development Goals.

For 75 years, we have worked together to provide quality services and systems, including better health, education and opportunities for children everywhere and from all backgrounds.
He said this is UNICEF’s fifth commemorative stamp in partnership with the Ministry of Communications in the last 64 years.
Speaking on the occasion, Shambi Sharp, UN Resident Coordinator for India, said, “The launch of the UNICEF@75 commemorative postage stamp is a celebration of cooperation, shared values and commitment to children’s rights and the future.”
“The entire UN family, including UNICEF, stands firm in partnership with India so that every child and youth can achieve their full potential. Together we can build a future where no one is left behind.
Col. Akhilesh Pandey, Chief Postmaster, Delhi Circle, Indian Department of Posts, outlined UNICEF’s journey from 1949 till date and highlighted UNICEF’s work to uplift vulnerable children and youth, reach every child in need and protect children.
“The Department of Posts is proud to release this commemorative postage stamp and honors UNICEF’s role in ensuring children’s rights and well-being and 75 years of partnership with India,” he said.
UNICEF representative Cynthia According to McCaffrey, “This stamp is a milestone for India’s children. “Over the last few decades, working with governments, we’ve seen that investing in children has huge benefits for their future.”
“There are many examples of this in India, whether the reduction in under-five mortality, the increase in complete immunization and school enrollment, or safe sanitation and clean water, have all improved in India.
In recognition of UNICEF’s partnership and support over the past decades, the Government of India has issued four commemorative postage stamps to commemorate UNICEF’s 25th and 40th anniversaries and 30 years of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
