Bhutan: campaign to increase grants from ordinary people to bring 'Piece on Pick on'

Between the clear air and accessible land of the high mountains of Bhutan, the yak, shows the courage of the hill community, seems to be a symbol of tolerance and dignity. This huge creature is not just an animal with its thick, hot wool skin and stable steps, but the lifeline of the hill people.

As part of the campaign called ‘Pick on Pick’, Bhutan’s valuable tradition is trying to help conservation and communities living in distant high-sofagus regions that depend on Yak for their livelihood.

In keeping with the relationship between the hill community and these great organisms, every level of each contribution to the small and large will help.

Yak accepts not only warm wool, not nutritious milk, but also meat. Yak, also, is considered as a strong companion in the strict climate.

Yaks carries their owners’ hopes and dreams on their strong shoulders, helping to transport goods and connect remote communities.

For the hill people, Yak is not only the source of livelihood, but the family’s favorite members, muted patrons and the ornaments of the mountain life.

Decrease the population

However, the decrease in Yak is becoming a serious issue of anxiety. Since 2019, the number of household pasture houses in Bhutan has decreased by 22 percent and the number of Yak has decreased by 28 percent (National Statistics Bureau 2022).

The common reasons for the reduction of the Yak population include the problem of inadequate availability in the area, hunting by GID disease and wildlife.

Every year 159 yaks are victimized by wild animals, most of which are calves. Because of this, wild hunters, animals basically kill the snow leopard to retaliate. This rare species, the catchment area, including the catchester region, is very important for the balance of our entire mountain ecosystem.

The Laya Yak Association’s Damcho Shering explains, “As a shepherd of Yak we live a hard life. We need to change our place almost every year and we wake up overnight and protect our yaks from bear, tiger, snow leopard, wild dog and Himalayan wolf.

Initiative

The campaign for Chanda’s collection has begun to protect the 4 Bhutanese families living on high land, more than 2,000 calves and 5 snow teeth.

Its purpose is to promote human-brown co-existence in the hills. These include the use of an iron car to protect the yak as well as to protect the snow leopard.

In Bhutan, when people gather for religious rituals, they give large funds. In such situations, this initiative has been trying to adopt the methods to collect grants through digital medium and achieve sustainable development goals.

Each contribution made to this fund will make a significant contribution to bringing ‘peace to the peak’ and to calm the struggle of human life in the mountains of Bhutan.

This amount will be spent on giving this amount, an iron portable fraud, will give 149 families. This work will be done in collaboration with the local government and the community Yak Association.

Bhutan is a symbol of patience and beauty, a yak.
