Briefly: Application for completion of misery in Yemen, concern over South Sudan's food insecurity

Special Messenger Hans Grandberg told the member states through a video link that Yemen was still stuck in political, human and development crisis. And for the solution, you need to pay a big price for not taking any action.

About half of the country’s population, 1.7 million people suffer from serious malnutrition. In the absence of continuous humanitarian assistance, 60 million people may suffer from food insecurity in the emergency, in view of which international assistance needs to be provided.

Humanitarian assistance is underway in Yemen’s difficult circumstances, but it is not possible to provide assistance to the needy people as needed.

In Yemen, the Houthi fighters (Ansar Allah Party) have arrested a large number of humanitarian support staff, civil society representatives and diplomats for the past one year.

The Special Envoy Council called on the Council to give maximum pressure to these groups, so that they could release all these hostages unconditional.

The situation is currently stable after attacking ships in the Red Sea Water and revenge for Western countries. This happened after a break of conflict between the United States and the Houthi fighters.

However, with the intention of expressing solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza, the Houthi fighters have launched several attacks on Israel.

The United Nations is trying to create a roadmap in the risk of restarting Yemen’s fight and the fight, whose purpose is to implement the ceasefire in the country, take economic steps and follow the political process.

Concern about the deep food insecurity of South Sudan

The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has warned that some regions of South Sudan’s high blue province are moving towards famine.

The UN agency has released a new report on Thursday in the continuous deterioration of increasing violence and food security situation.

It is reported that among the five counties in the province, people are hungry at an emergency, and 12,000 are facing hunger at the destructive level.

According to the report, South Sudan will face a total of 777 million serious food insecurity, which is more than half of the country’s total population.

In addition to these, 2 million children are fighting malnutrition and earlier this year, the number was 2 million. The FAO fears the increase in the number.

According to the agency, food security situations have been improved in areas that have been stopped by violence, which has helped to increase agricultural production and humanitarian support efforts. However, the problem of hunger is not too far away.

South Sudan gained independence in the 21st, but soon, the cruel, terrifying civil war spread to the country. In 2018, a violent conflict between opposition political parties ended after a peace agreement.

However, the risk of political tensions and violence has increased in the past few months, thus rejuvenating the peace agreement and the risk of the country’s grip.

The UN agency has warned that mass violence in South Sudan cannot be allowed to explode, which is why people who have already faced severe food will face serious food insecurity.
