Challenges in front of the tribes, for them to 'attack on justice and dignity'

The 24th session of the ‘Permanent Forum’ began on Monday with the ‘Tribal Issue’ in New York. This year’s theme focuses on the implementation of the UN advertisement on the rights of indigenous people.

This is an opportunity where the steps taken by the governments of the countries discuss their participation in the influence of the tribal community’s land and fields, their lives and their participation in food protection decisions.

For the next two weeks, the tribal leaders, member countries, UN officials and civil society representatives will try to transform this advertisement into reality.

In his speech of the inaugural session, the United Nations Chief Antonio Gutres said that the indigenous people are very rich in culture, language, history and traditions, and are also important protector of global biodiversity and environment.

Attack on the right

General Secretary Gutresh mentioned that indigenous peoples are on the front front in the fight against climate change, pollution and biodiversity damage, though they are not responsible for the crisis.

The UN chief said that in the formation of sustainable food systems, taking steps from the tribal community to take steps towards sustainable life, the value of their knowledge and the traditional system is not understood.

“There is a strike on difficulties, dignity and justice in front of tribes around the world. And there is also a source of deep sorrow for me.”

The general secretary said that the people of the tribe were forcibly evacuated and illegally exploited, which leads to human rights violations.

“You have to face alignment, discrimination, unemployment, economic loss and intimidating violence, especially when you want to protect your shared home.”

Participation

“And often you are kept away from those decisions that have direct impact on your land and regions this is the cause of your life procedure and threat to food protection.”

The general secretary emphasized that indigenous women should face political participation, economic opportunities and obstruction in additional needs.

In the indigenous issue, Aluki Kalamk, head of the 24th Standing Forum of the United Nations, says the people of the tribe have been excluded from the decision on their identity, existence and self-realization issues.

He has appealed to the member states that the tribes should be fully respected in the process of decision making and their rights policy and the government should be protected in every field.
