Tor Vannesland, in a press statement issued on Sunday, expressed deep concern over the escalating situation in the region, saying that the horrors in Gaza are intensifying and the humanitarian crisis is worsening, witnessing horrific scenes of destruction amid Israel’s continued attacks on northern Gaza.
He said that many people were killed in the Israeli airstrike in Beit Lahia last night.
However, this attack was preceded by a number of horrific Israeli attacks in northern Gaza, which caused many casualties and almost completely stopped humanitarian aid from reaching people.
No place in Gaza is safe
Special Coordinator Tor Vanesland said, “I condemn the continued attacks on civilians. “This war must end and the hostages held by Hamas must be released.”
He said the displacement of the Palestinian people must be stopped and the protection of civilians must be ensured, wherever they may be. Besides, the supply of humanitarian aid must also be uninterrupted.
“The way forward requires courage, political will and renewed dialogue,” Tor Vannesland said.
“We have to do this for the suffering families in Gaza and Israel. The war must stop immediately.”
