Gaza Crisis: 'Children are dying before reaching the hospital'

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) spokesman James Alder said at a press conference on Tuesday that it would be wrong to assume that the situation was improving.

He said, “There is a belief in the world around the world that the situation is improving. But if human assistance support material is not supplied continuously … then the fearful results will come out.”

He attracted attention to the opportunity of need: “When food is available for 30,000 children, there are 9 million children who are not getting enough food. This assistance is like a drop of sea.”

Still help very slow

The UN Relief Coordination Office – Ocha says that some of Israel’s stagnation has reached Gaza in Gaza, but current assistance is very low.

Ocha spokesperson Jens Lark said, “For the upcoming months or years, every day a few thousand trucks need to enter Gaza every day. People are dying every day. This is a crisis, on the edge of famine.”

He also said that due to the delay in the bureaucracy and lack of safe access, the distribution of assistance material was hampered due to the stuck of thousands of tonnes of assistance material outside the Gaza strip.

Immediate assistance needs to be increased

In New York, UN deputy spokesperson Farhan Haque also mentioned the obstacles to the distribution of adequate assistance materials and the obstacles that were distributed on the materials that reached.

Deputy spokesperson Farhan Haque said at a regular press conference, “The huge lack of food is affecting the survival of people. As the level of malnutrition increases, the immune system of children also weakens the prevention of children, which also weaken the children’s immune system, which obstructs their growth and growth in the future.”

Health challenges

In recent times, some drugs have reached Gaza, but this amount is very limited. Health workers are working in excess stress and heavy deficiency of treatment materials.

The World Health Organization (WHO) reported 46 cases of Gilian-Bare Syndrome in July, including two deaths.

This condition affects the nervous system and is related to the body’s weak resistance, weak nutrition and hygiene infections.

The condition of pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers is equally worrying.

UN Breeding Health Agency – UNFPA says 5 percent of pregnant or breastfeeding women suffer from severe malnutrition, and newborn and dead birth rates are increasing.

Meanwhile, three UN fuel tankers arrived in Gaza on Monday. This fuel will provide energy to important health, water and healthy services, but the OCHA emphasized that it would only be able to operate the services required by the “minimum” capacity.
