After the 15-month war ended, many people in Gaza returned to their places of origin, only to find their homes reduced to rubble. The war also caused extensive damage to critical infrastructure across the Gaza Strip.
Increase food supply
More than 630 trucks loaded with food entered Gaza on Monday, said Tom Fletcher, head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Disaster Relief (OCHA).
In the period before the Gaza war broke out in October 2023, 500 trucks loaded with aid entered Gaza every day.
Some of the hostages in Hamas custody have already been released and reunited with their families.
Because of this, some relief has been seen in Israel. On the other hand, some Palestinian women and children imprisoned in Israeli prisons have also been released under the terms of the ceasefire.
Tom Fletcher, head of OCHA, thanked UN aid teams and partners who had prepared for this moment with tireless courage and creativity.
He urged countries to use their influence on all relevant parties to ensure uninterrupted access to life-saving humanitarian assistance to all in need.
