HDI 2025: strengthen the progress of human development in India, but the challenges are intact

According to the Human Development Index (HDI), India’s Human Development Index (HDI), “A Matter of Choice: People and Prospects of AI”, has risen to 1..676 to 5 in 2021 in 2021.

With this, India has moved from the 5th position in 5 countries, the 5th in one year.

Also, India has reached the boundary of high human development (HDI ≥ 0.700), leaving India in the Central Human Development Department.

India’s HDI value has increased by 53% since the 5th – which is world and faster than South Asia’s average.

According to UNDP representative Angela Lucy, this progress shows permanent improvement in the average years, the national income of national education per capita.

AI’s introduction

In the Human Development Report, India has been recognized as the emerging AI power in 2021.

India is the only lower-central income country of the top ten replacement of the Global AI index.

According to the report, AI -related infrastructure in India is strong and there is continuous investment in developing efficiency.

In 2019, where the number of AI researchers was almost negligible, now 20% of Indian people, AI researchers themselves are working in the country.

AI is being used in various areas of India – such as agriculture, health care and public distribution systems. Examples:

• AI assistance is being provided to farmers’ insurance and loan advice in their regional languages.

Recals are planning a national AI facility for researchers and new companies and industries.

U -based AI -based inclusive skills development programs supported by UndP are being run in states like Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

Improvement of health, education and income

The life expectancy in India was 5..6 years, which has now increased in 2021 – the highest level since the start of the HDI list.

The field of education has also improved. Now the average period of children in school in India has reached 5 years, it was only 1.2 years in 5 years.

The Right to Education Act, Samagara Education Abhi and New National Education Policy 2021 have played a significant role in this. However, the need to improve the fields of education and the results remains.

On the economic front, India per capita GDP increased from 2167.22 to 2023 in 1990 to $ 9046.76 in 2023 – which has increased more than four times.

In addition to the achievement of this development, the widespread economic reforms, the social projects such as Manarega, Prana Dhan Planning and digital inclusion.

Specifically, between 2015-16 and 2019-21, 1.5 million people have come out of multi-faceted poverty, which is considered as a major achievement.

Challenge of inequality

However, the report said that HDI lost 30.7% due to indicators related to discrimination in India – which is one of the largest disadvantages in the region.

Discrimination in the health and education sectors has improved somewhat, but income and gender discrimination still exist in large size.

Especially women’s participation and political representation in the labor force are still low. However, recently, one -third of the legislative seat for women, which reserves the constitutional amendment such as steps, the hope of change in the social and political fields.

Global aspects and status of South Asia

The report expressed concern over the slow pace of global human development. This is the slowest since 1990.

If progress was made before 2021, the world would have moved towards high human development by 20. However, there are now decades of delay in this goal.

The report also says that discrimination between the rich and the poor countries is constantly deepening.
