Syria: The truth is to highlight
The issue of crisis in Syria also came to the Human Rights Council, where Paulo Pinhero, head of the Syrian Investigation Commission, said that thousands of people would have to make a lot of effort to find out about the disappearance during the former Assad Rules.
Paulo Pinhero said the new acting administration in Syria had expressed his desire to work closely with its investigators in many human rights issues and welcomed it.
However, he warns that the economic and humanitarian situation in Syria is very bad when funding is decreasing for the purpose of humanitarian assistance.
According to the Investigation Commission, the growing economic disappointment among the people of the country can cause violence and therefore all the sanctions imposed on Syria have to be withdrawn and the obstacles must be removed in the way of reconstruction.
The investigating team of Paolo Pinhero has met with many families whose families have not been released after the sudden fall of the Assad government in December last year. “They want to know what happened to them now and they want to get justice.”
He said that to collect accurate information about thousands of people like this, a huge level of effort is needed, which will be led by the acting administration.
Also, these efforts require human rights and human rights agencies, including the Syrian civilian society. In this process, the Investigation Commission is ready to provide the necessary data collected after 20 years to preserve all evidence.
