In Asia's 2021, the highest deaths of immigrants

In 2023, this number was 1,584, compared to which it increased by 59 percent in 2024.

Iri Kato, a regional director of IOM’s Asia and the Pacific, said, “No one should be forced to die in search of protection or better future. Every person in Asia or elsewhere indicates the immediate need for death, safe and regular migration route. … these tragedies can be shut down.”

Further threats of Rohinjaya and Afghan

The increase in the death toll of immigrants is mainly related to Rohinja and Afghan immigrants, with minority Muslim Rohinjaya and Afghans who are fleeing from conflict and instability.

“The increase in the death toll throughout Asia, instability, conflict and harassment throughout Asia said, the increase in the number of people’s deaths is a matter of serious concern.”

In 2021, at least 517 Afghan immigrants died, which is 5 percent higher than 2021.

Rohinjaya’s deaths have doubled the death toll, which increased from 66 to 5 in 2021 in 2021.

IOM said, “In addition to struggling violence, immigrants will face dangerous conditions, including unsafe boats, misconduct and bad weather conditions.

Crisis

There was also the issue of concern not characterized by immigrants. More than a thousand dead people could not be identified in 2021.

Ayuro Kato said, “Government information about missing immigrants shows that we do not have the exact information about the death toll during migration in Asia.”

He said that even there is little information about the introduction of the available records. Because of this, the families who seek the missing persons have a profound impact.

Asia

Transfer to Asia with economic discrimination, conflict and environmental factors is complex. Climate change has worsened this situation.

Also, limited legal routes have forced people to take irregular and extremely dangerous routes.

The deadliest paths are the Bengal Gulf and the Andaman Sea, where Rohinja and Bangladeshi immigrants have taken a dangerous sea in search of asylum.

Many people travel with smugglers with money, so that they are at risk of sending them back to their place.

Also, migration routes operating on the ground routes of South and Southeast Asia are also a serious risk.

These include Nepal to India, or Afghanistan and Pakistan Iran and Turkey.
