India: sports mantra for children to take care of children in rural areas

UNICEF is providing health workers the necessary resources and training, so that they can explain the families that small things every day can play an important role in children’s mental and social development.

Through this initiative, a peaceful but revolutionary change has begun in the village of Dangaraha Ghat in twenty -two blocks in Purnia district of Bihar. This is not a major program or policy change – but there is a wave of change with laughter in houses.

The 18 -month -old Suhana Parveen now spreads into the water with her father, making clay pills and laughing with her cousin Amir and Alimish. This national scene was rare until a few months ago.

In the communities here it was believed that the toys mean plastic from the market. They didn’t know that household items like water, spoon and cloth could also have children’s toys.

However, all things started from September 2024, when Primary Child Development (ECD) has participated in the training of UNICEF.

Examples of practical activities, life -related and related examples, were part of these three days training to meet people at home.

It helped learn how important brain development was in the first years of their children’s age – and how a loving game could guide life.

New way of care

Earlier, two workers worked on newborn babies, advised children to grow old age and breastfeeding – but their focus was limited to only physical health.

He was not identifying the delay in the development of linguistic, social or sports, or he was not involved with the care of the parents.

Now, they have a mother and child protection (MCP) card and a pocketbook like navel – so that they start explaining families such as touching, talking and playing so that they are like food and drugs.

He began to show people through various activities that a spoon drumstick, a cup of hidden toys and daddy could be turned into a father’s lap – the best field of the game.

Thoughts changed, life has changed

Initially many families said, “We’re very busy.” Some said, “All this is not necessary.”

But Wazeda and Pinky did not give up. Describes stories, showing examples and repeatedly-they gradually change the human mentality. The smile returned home. Care is shared and included – and above, the game was added to it.

“We are proud now – because these children are not only healthy, but also happy and smart stars,” Pinky said.

Parents are taught how they can include sports-based activities in daily conversations with their families through interactive sessions and practical performance.

Initiative

Today, it is not just the story of two women – it has become a movement. 650 trained workers and 40 supervisors are now providing about 10,000 children in twenty -two blocks -it ensures that every family can reach primary care and sports -based education.

And it simply started.

If we want every child to be happy and develop in Bihar and across the country, the ECD will need to make a portion of each health and nutrition program.

Books like training and new consciousness. And the role of heroines like Pinky and Wajeda became very important.

Because when the carers have the right information, a spoon, a song or even a shared moment can also create the foundation of the future of gold.
