May change the global future because of the participation of youth in agriculture

The report published on Thursday is the name of “youth in the agriculture and food systems” (The condition of the youth in the agro-food system).

According to the FAO, about 85 percent of the world’s young people live in low and lower-middle-income countries, where the agricultural food system is the main source of livelihood.

If these youths receive equal opportunity, resource and policy support, it is possible to increase US $ 1.5 trillion in Global GDP (GDP) – about 45 percent of which can only contribute to agriculture.

FAO Director General Qi Dongu wrote in the report, “This report shows how the empowerment of youth can be changed into the agricultural system and how this change can provide a great deal of economic, social and environment.”

Increase discrimination and food insecurity

According to the report, more than 20 percent of youths are still in employment, or in education or in any commercial training (NET).

This problem is more deeper in women, whose number has doubled.

According to the report, about 39 million rural youths are currently living in areas where climate change is likely to reduce agricultural productivity – especially in sub -scholars in Africa and other sensitive areas.

Why is the young agricultural sector away from?

The trends of the population make the urgency of this challenge deeper. It is estimated that in the sub-City Africa by 2050, the population of the youth will increase by 65 percent.

On the contrary, the part of the youth working in the agricultural food system has dropped from 5 percent to 5 percent in 2021, which has made it clear that it is necessary to make these regions more attractive, practical and safe for youth.

Migration is also an important aspect of this discussion. Due to lack of opportunities in their country, these youths are going abroad in search of better employment.

Solve and recommend

According to the FAO report, the government, development partners and the private sector have been called to the center of the youth to take integrated steps.

It emphasizes to increase their access to digital techniques, invest in sustainable structures for farming and processing and ensure their active participation in determining policies.

Also, the need for the inclusion of marginal youth and the need for proper data collection has also been emphasized, so that the policies can become more effective and equitable.

The FAO’s report clearly states that youth should not only be seen as a goal of change, but also the carrier of change.

If they get the right opportunities, resources and assistance, they not only can solve the global food crisis, but can lead the world to a more inclusive, sustainable and safe future.
