Middle East crisis: Violence escalates in Gaza, Israel and Lebanon

The development comes as the top UN official in Lebanon, Jeanine Hannis-Plessarts, begins her official visit to Israel where she will hold talks with senior government officials.

He has already said that “there is no military solution that will make both sides more secure.”

There are reports that on Monday, people in southern Lebanon received phone calls and social media messages from the Israeli army asking them to stay away from any buildings and villages linked to the extremist group Hezbollah.

Hezbollah reportedly fired about 150 rockets into northern Israel over the weekend, believed to be the group’s latest move during the Gaza war. About 60,000 people have been displaced in Israel so far due to Hezbollah’s attacks.

About 30,000 people have been displaced from their homes in southern Lebanon due to the Israeli attack.

The Security Council held an emergency meeting on Friday following international calls to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East region.

It should be noted that Israel attacked Lebanon’s capital Beirut and the southern region on Friday.

Border fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah erupted last week, after pagers and other wireless communication devices exploded in Lebanon targeting Hezbollah members.

Many people were injured in these explosions.
