The UN Food Aid Agency said on Monday that due to the huge wealth crisis, the republic may have to cut “serious cuts” in the middle of African, Egypt, Ethiopia and Libya to save lives.
If adequate resources are not available, food assistance in these countries is expected to be completely closed in the coming months.
The WFP has reported that the war between the Sudan National Army and the paramilitary forces has been more than two years and the position of the victims of the war has already been very serious.
The company says that a large number of refugees in Uganda survive in less than 500 calories per day, which is not even a quarter of an adult’s daily nutritional requirement.
Due to the frequent arrival of new refugees, the local assistance system is completely broken.
The children are more affected
Children, especially, are unsafe in the state of misery for a long time.
The malnutrition rate among children living in Uganda and South Sudan refugees has already exceeded the emergency level.
According to the WFP, many refugee children arrive in neighboring countries before receiving emergency assistance, seriously in a malnutrition state.
Shan Hughes, an emergency coordinator of Sudan Regional Crisis WFP, said, “It is a wide regional crisis that is already emerging in countries with high food insecurity and intensive conflict.”
He said, “Millions of people transferred from Sudan are completely dependent on the WFP assistance.”
“But if the extra amount is not available, we need to overcome more food assistance. It will be a more serious threat to children and weak families, starvation and malnutrition.”
