Myanmar: To provide relief to the earthquake-looted population, appeals to the Aid route

UN top officials on Thursday issued a warning in a conversation with journalists at the UN headquarters in New York that there was more pain for people who were already challenged by the earthquake.

“Myanmar is the whole scene of destruction and disappointment today.”

General Secretary Gutresh has announced the sending of Tom Flatcher, the coordinator of the emergency relief case to lead the Assistance Campaign in Myanmar.

The United Nations has allocated $ 5 million from its emergency response fund, while the UN office (UNOPS) for project services spent $ 1.2 million for food, shelter, cleanliness, removal of ruins and healthcare.

However, in terms of huge requirements, the amount of assistance will be required at a higher level.

The UN chief has called for the international community to provide this amount immediately so that funds can be arranged according to the level of crisis.

The application of neutral assistance route

Violent conflict in many parts of Myanmar is a major obstacle for relief effort. After the military coup in February 2021, there are widespread protests in the country, violence and millions of people have been displaced.

Myanmar’s army and opposition groups have temporarily announced a ceasefire with the intention of supporting humanitarian assistance. The UN chief emphasized that these declarations should be converted into permanent peace and the responsibility of protecting ordinary citizens.
