Sudan: Number of refugees reached Chad in search of protection

A serious violent conflict of the anti -Sudan military began in April 2021, then over 100,000 citizens crossed the border to neighboring countries and were in the world’s most seriously displaced crisis.

Of these, 1.5 lakh Sudanese refugees have taken shelter in Chad. Prior to this crisis, more than four million Sudanese refugees were living in Chad, who reached there from 20 to 2021, to avoid violence in Darfur.

This, overall, in the last two years, the number of Sudanese refugees in Chad has exceeded 12 lakh data, which has had a profound impact on the resources of the country. In view of this, UNHCR Chad requested support for humanitarian support.

In April this year, armed parties attacked Sudan’s northern Darfur, noticed the camps formed for displaces.

At least 300 people were killed in the attack in Jamjam and Abu Shobe Camp and Al Fashar City, after which thousands of people went to other areas in search of protection.

Within a month, more than 68 thousand Sudanese citizens have taken refuge in Chad and in the last few days, an average of 5 people are crossing the border every day. These ordinary citizens are terrified by bullets and are flying from border posts, furun and armed groups strict sanctions.

Stress on resource

Despite the efforts of the Humanitarian Assistance Agency and the local administration, financial resources are not available at adequate level to assist Sudanese refugees. The shelter is very bad.

Only 14 percent of the total requirement was met and thousands of people were forced to spend the day in extreme weather and insecurity.

Refugees are getting only 5 liters of water per day. In challenging situations, families need to choose a very difficult option, which is affecting their health and dignity.

More than 2.5 million refugees are trapped at the border, and their insecurity, violence and armed groups are at risk.

Assistance application

The UN refugee agency has appealed to the world community that Sudan has to take steps to end human rights serious violations.

Under the regional plan for Sudan’s assistance campaign, UN agencies and partners organizations have applied for $ 55.37 million for protection, shelter, food, water, cleanliness of people from Sudan to Chad.

UNHCR has issued a warning that if financial assistance is not increased, it will be difficult to provide life -efficient assistance to the needy.
