The WFP said in a message on social media, “If it is implemented, it can be like the death sentence of millions of people who are fighting for excess hunger and starvation.”
Cindy McCain, executive director of the UN Food Organization, warned that due to the continuity of cutting for WFP’s emergency program, the situation of hunger would deepen, instability would be strengthened and the world would be less protected.
He urged world leaders to evaluate its results and said that in the case of violent conflict and excess hunger. In such a situation, drawing support not only will affect life, but also global stability will also weaken.
The WFP is contacting the US administration with the intention of achieving clarity in this regard and maintaining support for its programs.
Risk for refugees
These cuts are likely to be with 100,000 refugees living in Uganda.
According to the UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR, on average, 10 to 12 thousand refugees have entered the country every month since 2022.
