The shadow of death over the entire population of northern Gaza, outrage at the neglect of 'basic humanity'

The United Nations Acting Under-Secretary-General for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Joyce Mosua, said in her message on social media platform X that the blockade by the Israeli military in northern Gaza cannot be allowed.

According to him, hospitals have been attacked, health workers have been detained and frontline aid workers have been prevented from rescuing people from the rubble.

“Shelters have been emptied and burned… families have been separated and men and boys taken away in trucks.”

Hundreds of Palestinians have been killed, according to media reports, after Israeli forces launched a new military offensive in northern Gaza this month.

Thousands of people have been forced to migrate.

Acting Under-Secretary-General Joyce Mosua said the entire population of northern Gaza was at risk of being killed. “Such blatant disregard for basic humanity and the laws of war must stop.”

The head of the United Nations Health Organization (WHO) has expressed deep concern over the current situation in Gaza, saying the war has had a profound impact on health care services.

The Director-General of the United Nations, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, expressed outrage in his message on the social media platform, X, that the situation is catastrophic.

“An intense military operation is being conducted around healthcare services. “There are shortages of critical medical supplies, compounded by extremely limited access.”

Under these circumstances, ordinary Palestinians are not receiving life-saving care.

According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, the siege of Kamal Adwan Hospital has ended, but at a huge cost. These are among the few hospitals in northern Gaza still operating.

After the detention of 44 male health workers, there are now very few medical workers available to care for around 200 patients.

The WHO chief condemned the loss of hospital facilities during the siege. He said a cease-fire needed to be implemented as soon as possible to take care of the collapsed health care system in Gaza. According to Dr. Tedros, the lives of ordinary Palestinians depend on it.
