He boldly stated that “Palestine will be ours. If anyone has to go from there, it is the occupiers and the forces that are occupying our land.”
The Palestinian president noted that the Palestinian people have been facing “the most heinous and brutal crimes of our time” for almost a year.
“This is a full-scale war crime of genocide that Israel is committing,” he said. A crime that has claimed more than 40,000 martyrs and buried thousands more under rubble in Gaza alone. It is a crime that has injured more than one lakh people so far.
Mahmoud Abbas noted that entire Palestinian families have been wiped out, their family names completely erased.
He also stressed that amid the carnage, diseases are on the rise, there are acute shortages of clean water and essential medicines, and more than two million people have been displaced, many of them in search of protection, many displaced multiple times.
This process of killing and wounding people continues unabated not only in Gaza, but also in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
President Mahmoud Abbas insisted he was not here today to “respond to the lies” of the Israeli prime minister, who claimed to the US Congress in July that Israeli forces had not killed any innocent people in Gaza.
He said, “I ask you, who killed 15,000 children out of 40,000 people and killed the same number of women and old people? And what is that power that still drives men to death, I ask you.”
