The International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling against Israel’s genocidal behavior in Gaza is being ignored and rendered ineffective, Jordan’s king said.
“It is no wonder that confidence in the UN’s founding principles and ideals is weakening inside and outside the General Assembly,” he said.
The King of Jordan said, now is the right time to ensure the security of the Palestinian people. “The international community has a moral responsibility to establish a concrete system for the protection of those people throughout the Palestinian territories.”
Impunity takes power
Echoing the UN Secretary-General’s warning, he said, “Impunity builds strength. If it is left unchecked, it will continue to grow.”
The eyes of the world are on Gaza, “and history will judge us by our level of courage.”
King Hussein said that nearly a year into the Gaza war, the world has failed politically, “but our humanity cannot allow the people of Gaza to despair any longer.”
