The model was presented on the international platform recently at the WFP Executive Board meeting in Rome – where it was appreciated as local innovation, expansable, effective solution.

The project, which started with only two pilot units in 2021, has reached more than 20 female-led initiatives spread in five districts.

It has distributed more than 7 and a half nutritious food packets so far and has reached more than 70 million mothers and children. This entire scheme is operated under the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) of the Government of India.

Uttar Pradesh Principal Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh recently presented in the headquarters of the World Food Program (WFP) in Rome, “It is not only about food. It is not only about food, income and empowerment. Each unit is not only cooking food, but also making its future.”

Nutrition Revolution in the leadership of women

Each unit is operated by 20 local women whose machines, raw materials and training have been provided. These women are now earning permanent monthly income, and are able to invest in children’s education and property.

Nutrition -rich foods made in these units include village flour pudding, mung dal khichdi and energy enhancer ladas – which are made according to the FSSII guidelines.

This model has become completely safe and transparent through packets, solar energy -based production and hygiene and quality tests with QR code.

Global praise

After the initial success in UNNA and Fatehpur in 2021, the project has so far produced more than 2.5 million foods, priced at $ 1 million.

The state government plans to extend it to all the districts by 20227.

With the Executive Director (WFP) of the World Food Program, Sindhi McCain, Principal Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Government, Manoj Kumar Singh.

“This model is an ideal combination of local food systems, female empowerment and economic inclusion. It presents the world’s effective and repeated solutions,” says Elizabeth Four.

Chosa

This scheme has become a living example not just nutrition, but also permanent development and self -sufficiency.

Of these, the effectiveness and accountability have been added in an unprecedented manner by promoting app-based observations and behavioral changes.

The project shows how both food and future can be protected from local resources, community participation and female leadership.
