WFP DRC provided food assistance to thousands of people

The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) has reported that the trucks filled with crops, beans and cooking oils have arrived in Benny City, Kivu province from Uganda.

This was supplied after the clash between Rwanda, WFP -BACKED M32 rebel fighters and DRC army.

Relief for 1.4 million people

The WFP Beni has planned to assist about 1 lakh 40 thousand people in the Lubero region by providing relief material.

According to the United Nations Assistance Coordination Organization (OCHA), the violence in Lubero intensified May 2, which caused about 5 people homeless.

This situation appears at a time when peace talks are underway between the DRC government and the M33 rebels in Qatar. In the last discussion held in April, both sides promised to work towards peace.

In 2021, the conversation between both sides failed.

Attack on January

In January this year, the M32 fighters occupied the war, more captured by the North Kivur capital.

He also occupied Bookabu a month later and threatened to occupy Kinashas on the other end of the country.

Since then, more than 7,000 people have died in this war and a large number of people have been displaced.

At this time, the DRC requires humanitarian assistance to about 200 million people.

The UN and its partners are assisting people on the ground and the armed groups are strongly condemned by relief materials and drug robbery.
