Maharashtra DGP transferred on opposition complaint

Mumbai Maharashtra Director General of Police i.e. DGP has been removed by the Election Commission. Two weeks before the voting to be held in the state on November 20, the Election Commission transferred DGP Rashmi Shukla. The Election Commission, while directing the transfer of Rashmi Shukla to the Chief Secretary of the state on Monday morning, said that the next senior IPS officer in the cadre will be given the charge of DGP.

Along with this, the Election Commission directed the Chief Secretary to send a panel of three IPS officers to him by 1 pm on Tuesday, November 5 for the appointment of the new DGP of Maharashtra. Actually, the opposition alliance of Maharashtra had complained to the Election Commission against Rashmi Shukla. Congress had said that Rashmi was not allowing the elections to be conducted in a fair manner. Then regarding the transfer of Rashmi Shukla, Sharad Pawar has said that the Election Commission has taken the right decision. We welcome this decision.

It is noteworthy that 1988 batch IPS officer Rashmi Shukla is the first woman IPS to become the Director General of Police of Maharashtra. She has also been the Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal and the head of Maharashtra Intelligence Department. There was a lot of controversy regarding his work in the Intelligence Department.
