Ranchi. A week before the voting on 43 seats in the first phase in Jharkhand, the central investigation agency CBI has taken major action. The CBI on Tuesday raided 20 places linked to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s MLA representative Pankaj Mishra and his associates. CBI has taken this action in the case of alleged illegal stone mining worth about Rs 1200 crore. The agency raided around 20 places located in Jharkhand, West Bengal and Bihar linked to associates of Hemant Soren’s MLA representative Pankaj Mishra.
Raids were conducted in three districts of Jharkhand, Sahebganj, Pakur and Rajmahal. CBI team also raided Kolkata and Patna. It is being told that during the raid, Rs 50 lakh cash, one kg gold, 1.25 kg silver and 16 live cartridges were recovered from different places. With this new raid, the troubles of Pankaj Mishra, MLA representative of Barheth Assembly in Jharkhand, have increased further.
It is noteworthy that CBI had registered an FIR in 2023 against Pankaj Mishra, close to Hemant Soren, and several people in the illegal mining case. Later Pankaj Mishra was arrested. CBI action is still going on in this connection. In this case, in November 2023, the Jharkhand High Court had ordered the CBI to register an FIR for preliminary investigation in the case of illegal theft and mining of stones in Nimbu Pahad, Sahibganj.
